Postcards from Tigerlily

Postcards from Tigerlily • European Summer in Mykonos

Why do you love this travel destination?

Greece is magical. The weather is consistently perfect every single day. Other than some slight wind, you can’t find a more reliable beach vacation spot. The people are beyond friendly and so happy to help. This just makes it the most blissful and surreal holiday destination.

Favourite things to do there?

Beach, eat, sleep, repeat. This is the perfect place for relaxing on the seaside, our favourite was Capari beach. This is a secluded spot in Agios Ioannis. Really quiet and gorgeous rock formations, with a spectacular sunset. If partying is your vibe I would recommend Scorpios, but it comes with a high price tag so opting for wine somewhere cute and local is my idea of ideal. Hot tip! The buses are regular, reliable and cheap. Don’t waste your money on a taxi or risk your life on a scooter.

Best place to eat and drink?

3 favourites! But a hot tip is any street gyros pita for 6€. They taste just as amazing as any pricey restaurant and they’re so easy to grab on the go.

      1. Cheaper - D’angelo. Very good reviews on trip advisor and the most delicious pasta
      2. Moderate - Promenade. Gorgeous view on the board walk in town. We had entrees and wine whilst people watching the busy location. Highly recommend the grilled calamari.
      3. Efisia - Expensive, but the most divine meal I’ve ever had, anywhere, EVER. Located in Psarrou at the Myconian Ambassador hotel. Fresh seafood and a picturesque sunset view. I had the lobster linguini as main and I’ve never ate anything so delicious.

Any packing tips?

Less is more! Bring some staple pieces and something cute for overswim but mainly this is all about swimwear. Beach to bar styles are essential

What’s on your travel playlist?

Honestly everywhere here is playing music, the exact music you envision for euro summer with classics from the 80s/90s. If I was to listen to a playlist I’d look up the restaurant names from here because they’ve already got this down pat.

What are you reading/watching?

For watching I’d go Mumma Mia to stay on location but spending much more time reading. I’ve read Loathe to Love and 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. If you love a romance these are perfect for your travels.
